Personality
There is a certain intensity in this filly that goes unmatched in the stable. By intensity, I refer not only to boldness of spirit and mind but of such focused attention and willfulness that it's amazing. Dawn is the definition of intense. Everything about her is strong, from muscles to her personality. She is overbearing due to this strength and an extremely difficult horse to control as well. This is like the year of overpowering horses in the stable, as though the horses of this crop feed off of each other's intensity. Dawn feeds the most off of it. She rarely listens to her jockey, and if she does it's because she approves of the course of action. Rarely is she in the mood to listen freely. This makes her difficult to control, and though the jockeys here have plenty of the will required to get Dawn going it takes them some time to get her going. Dawn is driven by a will to do what she wants. However, she is not very moody, and is actually predictable. Dawn is competitive. Racing is competitive. Therefore, Dawn and racing actually go well together. Off the track, she's a dominant mare, and the horses of this crop obey her. She's powerful and strong like the rest of them, and is the least royally bred, but all of them listen to her. There is no disobeying her overpowering dominance.
Pedigree
Barely A Moment
Doyoun X Kalamba |
Flash At Dawn
Flash of Lightning X Whispers At Dawn |
Dawn's sire Barely A Moment was a grand bay stallion who reached grade one and won some good races. He retired proudly with several year end awards to his name, including Colt of the Year and Best Older Horse. So far, his foals have been nothing spectacular, but Dawn is going to be the filly to change this. Dawn's dam Flash At Dawn was actually a dressage horse, not a racehorse, because she was born blind. However, Tawny's foals are beginning to prove her name. Tawny's sire Flash of Lightning was an esteemed grade one racehorse who was rising to the top before he mysteriously disappeared from the racing scene. Tawny is the only mare we know of who carries this mysterious stallion's lines. Whispers At Dawn was a show horse, and not much else is known about her.
Racing Statistics
Jockey: Connor Stewart
Prospect Record: 2-0-0-0
Race Record: 48-15-18-8
Grade: One
Dirt: Great
Turf: Okay
Distance: 8-11 Furlongs
Leg Type: Front Runner
Racing Style: Dawn is driven by the need to be dominant. She breaks fast and takes a crack at holding the lead for the entire race, wire to wire. If she is pressured, she will either fight back or actually show a logical side and not tire herself out by the end of the race. Unfortunately, the filly reacts negatively to being challenged and will push herself to stay in that lead no matter how suicidal the
pace gets to be. Luckily for her, the horses in her division are rarely suicidal front runners. So Dawn doesn't get all too challenged up there. But when she does, she becomes difficult to handle, and the difficulty rises the more front runners there are. For race strategy, she's the most conditioned in sprint stamina in the barn. Attempts to change her running style fail. Dawn doesn't listen. She will run her own way. Though as she grows older, some maturity may begin to develop.
